Workshop: Teaching with Music - A vehicle for language and culture

November 22-23, 2022 - Implementing positive approaches toward teaching languages is the trend in modern education and English teaching is one of the subjects that can perfectly applied with these methods. Studies show that songs are a great source of language and people can use music to practice lots of different language skills. Most of all, songs are a fun way to learn English and what makes music such a great teaching tool is its ability to connect cultures and languages of students. 

To provide TDTU English language teachers and Teaching English students with this interesting additional teaching skill, TDTU INSPiRE Library together with the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi hold the workshop: "Teaching with Music: A vehicle for language and culture" through the English Language Fellow program. This event helped strengthen the relationship between TDTU INSPIRE Library and the U.S. diplomatic establishments in Vietnam at the Conference Room 5F in two days (November 22-23, 2022).

Ms. Camille Williams - the workshop speaker who was a member of the English Language Fellow program highlighted the benefits of music in English classrooms, how to teach English with music, and shared her experiences in teaching English with music. Support materials from the Regional English Language were also provided to the participants.

In the workshop, the Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate General HCMC - Mr. Anthony Jones made a remark to congratulate the successful cooperation between TDTU INSPiRE Library and U.S. diplomatic establishments in Vietnam to support English language learning and teaching skills for TDTU students and teachers through such programs provided by the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi.

The English Language Program places highly qualified U.S.-citizen educators in the field of TESOL on projects funded by the U.S. Department of State to assist U.S. Embassies in delivering English language programs and supporting public diplomacy and mutual understanding through cultural exchange.
