In commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Le Quy Don (1726–2026), a prominent Vietnamese cultural figure and scholar, INSPiRE Library organized the Thematic Exhibition Commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the Birth of Le Quy Don at the Exhibition Display Area on the Library’s 1st Floor. The exhibition was held from August 14 to September 15, 2026, as part of activities responding to programs commemorating the 300th anniversary of Le Quy Don’s birth under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The exhibition served as a cultural and educational activity introducing students to the life, career, intellectual thought, and contributions of Le Quy Don, one of Vietnam’s prominent scholars of the 18th century. With his extensive knowledge and interest in diverse areas of life, he left behind a valuable scholarly legacy that reflected a strong spirit of learning, a commitment to research and inquiry, and a dedication to accumulating knowledge. Presenting Le Quy Don’s intellectual legacy within the library environment also helped bring Vietnam’s cultural and intellectual heritage closer to today’s generation of students.
Through the materials displayed at the exhibition, students had the opportunity to explore important milestones in Le Quy Don’s life, as well as his learning and research journey and contributions across various fields. The materials not only provided information about a prominent historical figure but also offered a perspective on the history of knowledge, illustrating how people observed, recorded, investigated, and accumulated knowledge within the social context of 18th-century Vietnam. In this way, reading and engaging with library resources became a means for students to explore the depth of the nation’s cultural and intellectual heritage.
The exhibition also sought to inspire a spirit of learning and an appreciation for knowledge among students. Le Quy Don’s lifelong pursuit of learning and research demonstrates the value of continuously expanding one’s knowledge and actively exploring new areas of inquiry. These qualities can inspire students to view learning not merely as the process of receiving existing knowledge, but also as a process of asking questions, seeking information, evaluating evidence, and developing their own understanding.
One of the notable aspects of Le Quy Don’s legacy is his spirit of inquiry and scholarly thinking. His efforts to observe phenomena, collect information, and systematically record knowledge in his works demonstrate an endeavor to understand the world through learning and research.
