To commemorate the 138th anniversary of the birth of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 – August 20, 2026), TDTU INSPiRE Library organized the Thematic Exhibition Commemorating the 138th Anniversary of the Birth of President Ton Duc Thang at the Political and Historical Heritage Space on the Library’s 1st Floor. The exhibition took place from August 13 to August 27, 2026.
The exhibition was a cultural and educational activity held to remember, honor, and pay tribute to the life, career, and noble qualities of President Ton Duc Thang — a prominent revolutionary leader, an exemplary communist, and the distinguished figure whose name the University is honored to bear. It also provided students with an opportunity to engage with historical, cultural, and political values associated with President Ton Duc Thang within their own university learning environment.
Through the materials on display, the exhibition highlighted important milestones in President Ton Duc Thang’s life and revolutionary activities, providing students with additional perspectives on an important period in Vietnam’s national history. Exploring history through books and documentary materials in the library also helped connect reading culture with historical learning, encouraging students to actively read, explore, and expand their knowledge through valuable information resources.
From the perspective of historical and civic education, the exhibition contributed to helping students gain a deeper understanding of the nation’s struggles, the role of previous generations, and President Ton Duc Thang’s contributions to the country. Learning about historical events and figures through primary sources, books, and carefully selected materials can make history more tangible and accessible, while contributing to an appreciation of Vietnam’s revolutionary traditions, patriotism, and the achievements built through the efforts of successive generations.
The life and character of President Ton Duc Thang also offer values that remain meaningful to students’ moral and personal development. His dedication, sense of responsibility, humility, spirit of solidarity, and commitment to placing collective interests above personal interests were reflected throughout his life of service and contribution. Exploring these qualities gives students an opportunity to reflect on their own values, attitudes toward learning, and responsibilities toward their peers, communities, and society.
For today’s younger generation, historical education goes beyond memorizing events and names; it also involves connecting the values of the past with awareness and action in the present. The exhibition space provided students with an opportunity to observe, read, and engage with historical information in their own way, thereby encouraging greater interest in national history and an appreciation of the values preserved by previous generations. It also provided a foundation for young people to reflect on their roles in learning, working, building communities, and contributing to society.
