On October 22, 2024, a High-Level Delegation from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland led by Mr. Ville Tavio, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, visited and worked at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). There was also the presence of Mr. Keijo Norvanto, Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam. On behalf of Ton Duc Thang University, Dr. Tran Trong Dao - President of TDTU, members of the Presidential Board, and leaders of affiliated units welcomed the delegation.
During his first visit to TDTU, Mr. Ville Tavio expressed his good impressions of the establishment and development of TDTU, a successful and dynamic autonomous university education model in Vietnam, which has been listed in prestigious university rankings in the world. TDTU fully meets the criteria of an internationally integrated university with 41 undergraduate and graduate study programs accredited according to international standards of AUN-QA, FIBAA and ASIIN. It has also been recognized as an educational institution that meets international accreditation standards of HCÉRES (2018-2023) and FIBAA (2024-2030).
More specifically, the Minister highly appreciated the efforts and dedication that generations of TDTU leaders have put in building the Vietnam - Finland International School (VFIS), with the desire to provide the young generations with integrated and advanced general education. VFIS is also the first international high school affiliated with a public university in Vietnam. It is a bridge to bring Finnish general education methods to Vietnam, and has become a symbolic image for the strong educational cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Finland.
Mr. Ville Tavio especially emphasized the importance of cooperation and implementation of educational activities of TDTU and VFIS, continuing to maintain and promote the core values of the VFIS educational model. Mr. Ville Tavio also shared with TDTU Presidential Board the cooperation opportunities as well as the interest from the Finnish Government and Finnish educational partners in the coming time, including activities to improve teaching skills for teachers through projects and educational scholarships of the Finnish Government, and to expand cultural exchange programs for students as well as research, study and work opportunities in Finland for those who wish to study in Finland after graduating from VFIS and TDTU.
The visit of the High-Level Delegation of Finland affirmed the desire to promote educational cooperation between Finland and Vietnam, contributing to the development of VFIS, whose establishment, operation and development stages over the years have become a symbol of educational cooperation between Finland and Vietnam.
On this occasion, Mr. Ville Tavio visited the VFIS campus and met with teachers and students, and affirmed that he would always accompany and create the most favorable conditions for VFIS teachers and students in the future.
