The Book Cover Design Contest: "The Future Era"

I. Program Description

The Book Cover Design Contest: "The Future Era" aims to encourage creativity and innovative thinking by combining visual design and reading culture. The contest invites participants to recreate the cover or content of a book in a futuristic style (futuristic/cyberpunk), where elements such as technology, artificial intelligence, and new human visions are conveyed through visual language and original ideas.

Participants can choose one of the following approaches:

Redesign the original book cover with a futuristic style that reflects changes in aesthetics, technology, and artistic trends of the future;
Adapt the book’s content onto a futuristic-style cover, recreating part of the story or message in a modern, high-tech, or imaginative setting.

This contest is specifically organized for students with a passion for graphic design and artistic creativity. It is a chance to showcase talent, aesthetic vision, and a love for books through impressive book cover designs—enhancing the visual appeal of inspiring books. Beyond a creative playground, the contest also offers students an opportunity to explore the publishing field and express their perspectives on their favorite books.

The contest also introduces students to Augmented Reality (AR) technology via an online AR exhibition, forming a foundation for future AR-related activities in the Library and the University.

II. Timeline, Format, and Participants

1. Timeline:

Contest announcement and submission period: April 9, 2025 – 10:00 AM, April 28, 2025
Online voting period: 10:00 AM, May 6, 2025 – 10:00 AM, May 13, 2025
Results announcement: 3:00 PM, May 15, 2025
Online exhibition (via AR Artivive platform): May 15 – June 30, 2025

III. Submission Details

1. Submission Format:

Each participant (individual or group) may submit one entry only;
Submit your work via the registration form at: https://forms.gle/4p3YzxDgeiPymcYA7

2. Submission Content: Each submission must include:

A book cover image (JPG or PNG, size 14.5 x 20.5 cm) redesigned by the participant;
An accompanying description explaining the idea and creative concept.

3. Entry Requirements:

The redesigned book cover must retain original elements: publisher logo, book title, author name, translator name (if any);
The book used must be legally published in Vietnam and available at TDTU Library;
The design must be original and not copied or derived from existing designs;
Entries must not have been published online or submitted to other contests;
Each individual/group may submit only one entry.

4. Additional Notes:

By participating, contestants agree that the Organizing Committee may use award-winning entries for TDTU’s promotional and communication purposes without requiring additional permissions or payments;
All decisions made by the Organizing Committee are final.

IV. Judging Criteria

For the 5 Jury’s Choice Awards:

Relevance to the original book (30%)
Aesthetic and technical execution (30%)
Creativity and originality (40%)

For the 5 Popular Vote Awards:

Top 5 entries with the most “emotions” (likes/reactions) on the Library’s fanpage posts from 10:00 AM, May 6 to 10:00 AM, May 13, 2025;
In case of equal votes, priority goes to entries with more “love” reactions;
Fake votes will result in disqualification.
