As rapid advances in digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) continue to reshape the global workforce, technical expertise alone is no longer sufficient to ensure career competitiveness. Employers increasingly value candidates who demonstrate adaptability, continuous learning, and the ability to create value in dynamic workplace environments. To support students in preparing for their future careers, the TDTU Library successfully organized INSPiRE Meetup #3: Career Paths on June 18, 2026, at the Library.
The program featured Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nhut, Chief Executive Officer of Opus Solution Co., Ltd., an alumnus of TDTU Cohort 6, Vice Chairman of the TDTU Alumni Association, and a technology expert specializing in Microsoft Cloud Solutions, SharePoint, and Blockchain. Drawing on his personal journey from university student to entrepreneur and technology executive, Mr. Nhut shared valuable insights into today's evolving labor market, changing recruitment expectations, and the competencies students should begin developing while still at university.
The session opened with an overview of current labor market trends, highlighting the profound impact of AI and digital technologies across industries. Mr. Nhut explained that technological innovation is transforming job roles and redefining workforce expectations, making adaptability, lifelong learning, and continuous upskilling essential qualities for future professionals. He encouraged students to cultivate a growth mindset and remain proactive in acquiring new knowledge to keep pace with technological advancements and evolving industry demands.
Reflecting on his own experiences in higher education, entrepreneurship, and business leadership, Mr. Nhut shared the challenges, setbacks, and lessons that shaped his professional journey. Rather than focusing solely on achievements, he emphasized the importance of resilience, perseverance, and learning from failure. His authentic experiences provided students with a realistic perspective on career development and reinforced the idea that graduation marks the beginning—not the end—of lifelong learning.
Beyond discussing emerging career trends in the digital era, the speaker explored the competencies that employers increasingly seek in graduates. In addition to strong disciplinary knowledge, he emphasized the importance of digital literacy, technological proficiency, problem-solving ability, teamwork, adaptability, and proactive learning. These capabilities, he noted, have become critical differentiators in an increasingly competitive labor market.
One topic that attracted significant interest was the growing role of artificial intelligence in recruitment and professional practice. According to Mr. Nhut, although many job descriptions do not yet explicitly list AI skills as a formal requirement, employers are already giving preference to candidates who can effectively leverage AI tools to improve productivity and workplace performance. AI competency is rapidly emerging as a valuable competitive advantage that demonstrates both technological readiness and a commitment to continuous learning.
The speaker also encouraged students to begin building their personal brand while still at university. He suggested that students could start by sharing newly acquired knowledge, practical experiences, lessons learned, and reflections on their personal development. Rather than trying to present themselves as experts, students should focus on demonstrating curiosity, authenticity, and consistent growth. A strong personal brand, he explained, naturally expands professional networks and creates greater career opportunities over time.
Communication and presentation skills were another key focus of the discussion. Mr. Nhut emphasized that professional success depends not only on technical competence but also on the ability to communicate ideas clearly, collaborate effectively with colleagues, engage clients, and influence stakeholders. Developing confidence in public speaking and effective communication, he noted, provides a strong foundation for long-term career advancement regardless of one's profession.
