June 21, 2024 - To foster innovation and creativity in university library operations in the digital age, the seminar titled “Developing University Library Services in the Digital Era” was held from June 17 to June 21, 2024. This event aimed to enhance the professional skills of the TDTU Library staff and featured training sessions led by experts from Chulalongkorn University Library, Thailand. The seminar underscored the essential role of international collaboration in library development and marked a significant milestone in the long-term partnership between TDTU Library and Chulalongkorn University Library.

The seminar was specifically designed by Chulalongkorn University Library to boost digital transformation and adaptability among university libraries in Vietnam. It focused on defining the vision and strategic direction for university libraries in the digital era and implementing innovative solutions in library practices. The program included a mix of instructional sessions and hands-on activities delivered in a hybrid format, with online participation from representatives of 14 universities, companies, and educational organizations in Vietnam. This approach facilitated the exchange of library-related experiences and encouraged the sharing of ideas between Vietnamese libraries and Chulalongkorn University Library.

Over the course of nearly a week, TDTU Library staff participated in in-depth lectures on digital development strategies and the use of AI tools in library operations, including cataloging, multimedia product creation, and data visualization. These sessions were designed to equip TDTU Library staff with the skills and knowledge needed to advance library services in the digital age. Participants had the opportunity to immediately apply the insights gained from the experts.

The seminar not only enhanced the professional capabilities of the library team but also established clear development goals for TDTU Library in line with technological advancements brought by digital transformation. Additionally, the seminar reflected TDTU Library’s proactive approach to international collaboration, driving progress in library services, and fostering ongoing learning in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. Building on these experiences, TDTU Library will continue to develop strategies and solutions to optimize library operations. This program also demonstrated the ongoing commitment between TDTU Library and Chulalongkorn University Library, as evidenced by the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions. This partnership has been strengthened through staff exchanges and visits, including the renewal of the MOU during Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Loan Thuy’s visit to Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok in October 2023.
