Turnitin is an electronic text comparison system used by universities to help prevent and detect data duplication. Turnitin compares submissions against sources in its database to generate an 'Originality Report.' This report highlights sentences that are similar to content from other sources, producing a Similarity Index indicating the percentage of the submission that is similar to others.
