On the morning of March 11, 2025, at Hall 10F, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), the workshop “Dare to Lead a Glorious Life” took place, offering an inspiring discussion on cultural identity, passion, and self-discovery. The event is part of a series of the same name, organized by TDTU INSPiRE Library, the Faculty of Industrial Fine Arts, and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with the National Political Publishing House - Su That in Ho Chi Minh City. The workshop aimed to encourage young people to embrace Vietnam’s rich cultural diversity and develop the confidence to pursue their ambitions.

The highlight of the event was a talk by Ms. Bong Mai, the author, who shared her 99-day journey across Vietnam documenting the traditional attire of 54 ethnic groups. Her experiences formed the foundation for her book, “Cultural Journey: The Vibrant Colors of Traditional Costumes of Vietnamese Ethnic Women”. Through her storytelling, she illustrated how traditional costumes are not merely garments but also bearers of history, culture, and ethnic identity. Her journey offered the audience a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s cultural richness and emphasized the importance of preserving these traditions.

Looking ahead, Ms. Bong Mai revealed her aspiration to become a writer by the age of 50, dedicated to preserving cultural heritage through literature and visual storytelling. Beyond traditional clothing, she intends to explore the lives, beliefs, and customs of Vietnam’s ethnic communities. She is also working on initiatives to promote cultural heritage, aiming to inspire younger generations to appreciate and safeguard their traditions.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Khiem, Head of the Fashion Design Department at TDTU, provided insights on incorporating traditional cultural elements into modern design. He highlighted that cultural identity is an endless source of inspiration and that integrating traditional motifs into contemporary fashion requires both respect for heritage and creative adaptation. His discussion guided students on how to apply cultural influences in fashion, art, and other creative industries while maintaining authenticity.

The “Dare to Lead a Glorious Life” workshop was more than just an academic discussion—it was a platform for students to reconnect with their cultural roots and gain the confidence to embrace their own paths. With experienced speakers offering fresh perspectives, the event encouraged students to explore, preserve, and celebrate Vietnam’s cultural values, fostering a generation that is confident, responsible, and prepared to make an impact.

The Photo Exhibition Integrating Augmented Reality Technology – Theme: Vietnamese Compatriots Costume is still running at the Ground Floor of the Library until March 21, 2025. Showcasing the traditional costumes of 54 ethnic groups, accompanied by their distinctive folk melodies, the exhibition provides a vibrant and immersive cultural experience. With the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) technology, the exhibit brings ethnic costumes to life in the most authentic way possible. This is a great opportunity for students to further explore Vietnam’s rich heritage and appreciate the artistry behind ethnic attire.
