Reading is more than simply acquiring knowledge—it is a process of discovering, exploring, and connecting information. With the goal of creating a more engaging reading experience and encouraging students to actively utilize the Library's resources, the INSPiRE Library successfully organized Library Reading Challenge Day 2026 on the afternoon of June 21, 2026.
The event introduced an innovative "Read to Complete the Challenge" format, transforming reading into an interactive learning experience. Instead of attending a traditional seminar or book discussion, participants took part in a 45-question challenge based on the content of 15 featured books displayed throughout the Library. To complete the challenge within 60 minutes, students were required to actively read, search for information, compare sources, and utilize the Library's computer workstations and academic resources to identify accurate answers.
The activity was designed to strengthen essential information literacy competencies by encouraging students to develop purposeful reading strategies, information retrieval skills, analytical thinking, and evidence-based problem solving rather than relying solely on memorization. These competencies are fundamental to academic success and lifelong learning in higher education.
Throughout the event, the Library buzzed with energy as students moved between bookshelves, study areas, and information retrieval stations in search of answers. Each question served not only as a knowledge challenge but also as an opportunity for participants to discover new books, explore diverse academic resources, and become more familiar with effectively navigating the Library's collections and services.
To ensure fairness, participants were ranked primarily according to the number of correct answers, with submission time serving as the tie-breaker for contestants achieving the same score. This scoring system created a healthy competitive atmosphere that encouraged students to balance careful information searching with effective time management throughout the competition.
At the conclusion of the event, the Library announced the results and recognized the top 20 performers with prizes totaling VND 2.7 million. Presenting the awards immediately after the competition celebrated students' achievements while further encouraging a culture of reading, independent learning, and academic engagement within the Library community.
Through Library Reading Challenge Day 2026, the INSPiRE Library sought to demonstrate that reading does not have to be a solitary or passive activity. When combined with exploration, gamification, and experiential learning, reading can become an engaging and rewarding experience that fosters critical thinking, information literacy, and self-directed learning—essential competencies for academic success, research, and future professional development.
