Does the library provide Turnitin accounts?
The library doesn't create accounts. Students should contact their instructors to be added to the class. After the instructor adds them, Turnitin will send an activation email. Note: Students must use an email address with the TDTU domain (e.g., *@student.tdtu.edu.vn).
Can students provide a Gmail address that is not under the TDTU domain to register with Turnitin?
No. Students must use their official TDTU email address (*@student.tdtu.edu.vn) when registering to use the university's Turnitin account.
I didn’t receive the activation email from Turnitin. What should I do?
Please check your Spam (junk) folder in your email account. If it’s not there either, you can try using the “Reset Password” option or contact your lecturer to request that the activation email be resent.
How do I activate my Turnitin account?
The system will redirect you to an account setup and activation page. You will be required to enter exactly the following two pieces of information:
-
The email address that was registered in the system (this is the email that received the activation message).
-
Your last name (surname) as registered by your lecturer or library staff. Note: You must enter this exactly as it was provided in the system. Typically, it is your last name written without accents, with the first letter capitalized.
Only when both pieces of information are correctly entered will the account be activated.
How do I create a personal password for Turnitin?
Your password must be at least 12 characters long, and include at least one number, one special character, and a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters. Make sure your password is secure and not easy to guess to prevent unauthorized access.
During your first login, Turnitin will ask you to select a security question and provide an answer, as well as agree to the terms of service. After completing these steps, you will be directed to the page showing the classes you are enrolled in.
How do I reset my password?
On the login page, select "Forgotten your password?".
-
Enter the email address associated with your Turnitin account.
-
If you have forgotten the answer to your security question, you can also select "Forgot your answer?".
-
The system will still send a password reset link to your registered email address.
How do I submit an assignment?
Students access the class that contains the assignment, then select the specific assignment they need to submit.
Can I submit my assignment more than once?
Usually, lecturers may choose to allow a new similarity report to be generated with each resubmission. In that case, you will be able to resubmit your assignment or submit it after the deadline (which will be marked as late). This depends on the settings chosen by your lecturer.
What file formats and submission methods does Turnitin support?
-
Turnitin accepts a variety of file formats, including: .doc, .docx, .pdf (text-based), .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .txt, and more.
To ensure the best formatting and compatibility for similarity checking, students are recommended to convert their Word documents to PDF before submitting. If submitting a Word file, make sure to:
-
Use standard formatting,
-
Apply “Paste values” when copying content,
-
Avoid using special fonts or fonts with Vietnamese customizations.
-
To minimize errors and improve the chances of a successful similarity report, it’s best to submit in .pdf format.
Before each submission, carefully review your PDF to ensure it meets Turnitin’s technical requirements.Additionally, Turnitin supports uploading files directly from Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox.
When is my submission considered complete?
After selecting “Upload and Review”, wait a few moments for the system to process your file. Once it’s done, click “Confirm”, and you will see a “Submission Complete” message. At this point, your submission is finished, and you may exit Turnitin.
The system will generate a Digital Receipt confirming your successful submission, including a Submission ID. Make sure to save this ID in case you need support or verification later.
