In a time when artificial intelligence is reshaping how knowledge is accessed and understood, the ability to comprehend and master AI tools has become an essential competency for university students. More than just a technological trend, AI is gradually emerging as a valuable academic assistant—supporting information analysis, idea development, and research efficiency. Recognizing this need, TDTU INSPiRE Library organized the Mini workshop “Applying ChatGPT for Learning and Research” to help students move from casual experimentation to methodical, responsible, and value-driven academic application.

Held on November 25, 2025, at the AI Corner on the 4th floor of the Library, the workshop attracted strong participation from TDTU students. Instead of merely explaining technology, the program focused on equipping learners with practical methods for using ChatGPT in academic contexts—from formulating questions and processing information to applying critical thinking when evaluating results.

The workshop began with an overview of ChatGPT and emerging AI trends in education, offering a foundation for participants to understand the role of AI in contemporary learning. It then moved into step-by-step applied practices, demonstrating how ChatGPT can be used as a research-supporting tool.

A highlight of the session was the segment on principles for crafting effective prompts—an essential factor determining the quality of AI outputs. Students practiced directly on the ChatGPT interface, experimenting with various prompt styles and observing how different inputs shaped different results. Several groups simulated real academic tasks, bridging the gap between theory and hands-on application.

The introduction to GPT Builder and Agent Builder expanded AI’s potential uses, enabling students to create customized virtual assistants tailored to specific academic needs. This new approach helped participants understand that AI is not only a tool for generating answers but can also serve as a long-term research support system.

The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Huynh Thanh Phung and Mr. Le Trong Giau, whose structured and practice-oriented instruction helped students grasp the content efficiently. According to the post-event feedback, participants highly valued the workshop’s practicality and applicability; many shared that the content was “exactly what we need” and “immediately useful” in improving learning and research tasks.

Through this workshop, TDTU INSPiRE Library reaffirmed its commitment to empowering students to confidently and responsibly integrate technology into their academic journey. In the coming period, the AI Corner will continue to host workshops focusing on enhancing digital literacy, academic thinking, and independent research capabilities in the era of AI.
