On the afternoon of November 6, 2025, the Organizing Committee held the Closing Ceremony and Awards for the Preliminary Round of the 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU). The event took place at the Online Conference Room, marking the conclusion of a year-long journey in which TDTU students actively engaged in promoting a culture of reading, while also honoring the most outstanding participants of the preliminary round.

The ceremony welcomed representatives from various university units, including: Mr. Tran Phi Cuong – Acting Director of the Library, Head of the Organizing Committee; Ms. Pham Thi Ha Thuong – Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Phuong – Acting Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages; Mr. Tran Minh Tuan – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration
Chau Bao Anh – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law alongside members of the TDTU Book Club.

In his remarks, Mr. Tran Phi Cuong emphasized the significance of reading in today’s educational landscape and praised the creativity demonstrated by TDTU students. He noted that the 2025 competition was not only an activity celebrating reading culture but also an opportunity for learners to “nurture a love for books and foster lifelong learning”, reaffirming reading as a core foundation of intellectual and personal development.

This year’s competition attracted 57 submissions across diverse formats, including reflective essays, proposals to promote reading culture, and thoughtfully produced book-introduction videos. Many entries showcased exceptional creativity, analytical depth, strong connections to real-world contexts, and practical models for knowledge dissemination. According to the Judges’ Panel, participants demonstrated seriousness, responsibility, and a multi-dimensional perspective on the role of reading amid the rapid expansion of modern media and entertainment.

During the ceremony, the Organizing Committee announced and awarded prizes to the top participants of the preliminary round:

• First Prize: Ngo Thi Thanh Phuong (Faculty of Business Administration) for her video on the literary work “Tuoi Tho Du Doi” (Fierce Childhood) by Phung Quan, accompanied by her project “From Village Courtyards to Livelihoods: Integrating Reading Culture with Community Economic Development”. Her work was highly praised for its sincere emotions, strong messaging, polished presentation, and innovative approach to reading promotion.

• Second Prize: Nghiem Van Tien (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities) for his essay on the novel “Di Tron” (Hide) by Binh Ca and his initiative “Bringing Reading Culture to Remote Areas through the Loving Connection BMT Club.”

• Third Prize: Nguyen Ngoc Van Anh (Faculty of Foreign Languages) for her submission connecting Nguyen Duy Can’s renowned work “Toi Tu Hoc” (Self-Study) with the project “The Reading Bus: Bringing Knowledge to Remote Communities.”

• Consolation Prizes: Do Thi Kieu Chinh (Faculty of Law) and Tran Phu Loc (Faculty of Business Administration). All prize winners also received gifts sponsored by corporate partners to encourage their passion for reading and creativity.

Notably, 2025 marks a proud achievement for TDTU as Nghiem Van Tien continued to shine on the national stage, earning a Consolation Prize at the National Finals of the 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is the second consecutive year he has been recognized at the national level, demonstrating perseverance and dedication in promoting reading culture. During the ceremony, representatives from the Library and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities presented him with flowers and gifts to acknowledge his efforts and accomplishments.

The Preliminary Round of the 2025 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest at TDTU not only honored outstanding individuals but also contributed to strengthening reading culture across the University, fostering a spirit of active learning and inspiring the wider student community. The achievements of participating students serve as motivation for TDTU Library to continue developing reading initiatives in the upcoming academic year, aiming toward a university environment rich in knowledge, humanity, and creativity.
