In November 2024, Times Higher Education (THE) released its first-ever Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025, evaluating the contribution and commitment of global higher education institutions to interdisciplinary science. This ranking was developed by THE in association with Schmidt Science Fellows.

According to this ranking, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) was placed 95th out of 749 ranked institutions worldwide, securing the No.1 position in Vietnam.

TDTU's position in the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025

The ranking is based on three key areas representing the lifecycle of research projects: Inputs, Processes, and Outputs, measured through 11 indicators:

-Inputs (19%): Including funding for interdisciplinary science (8%) and industry sponsorship (11%).

-Process (16%): Assessing facilities, administrative support, promotion, and measures of interdisciplinary science success, each contributing 4%.

-Outputs (65%): Covering the volume, proportion, and quality of interdisciplinary publications, cross-disciplinary impact, and academic reputation.

Interdisciplinary science, as defined by this ranking, integrates knowledge and methodologies from diverse fields such as computer science, engineering, life sciences, natural sciences, etc.

 

Indicators for THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings

Over the years, TDTU has consistently strengthened its position on the global education and research map with notable achievements as follows:

  • Top 200 Best Young Universities globally, according to THE Young University Rankings 2024.
  • Top 200 Best Universities in Asia, according to THE Asia University Rankings 2024.
  • Top 601-800 Best Universities worldwide, according to THE World University Rankings 2024.

In other university ranking systems like URAP, US News & World Report Rankings, UI GreenMetric, etc., TDTU is also ranked No.1 in Vietnam.

These accomplishments result from TDTU's significant investments in impactful and high-quality research, state-of-the-art facilities, and steadfast commitment to its international integration strategy. This progress serves as the proof of TDTU's strategic vision in creating a liberal, creative, and Comprehensive educational environment. With these results, TDTU is steadily advancing towards its goal of becoming a world-class research university.
