April 21, 2023 - The TDTU Reader Conference of school year 2022-2023 was held by TDTU INSPiRE Library to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) as well as brought an opportunity for library - readers discussion on related issues to improve the library's service.

At the Conference, INSPiRE Library summarized outstanding achievements and activities of the school year 2022-2023 in acquiring resources and supporting tools for learning/teaching/research, staff hiring, hosting academic activities, conducting international cooperation, taking part in national and international accreditation programs, holding trade union activities, etc. The significant activities were the international conference "Developing Intelligent Digital Libraries: International Experience – Proposed Solutions for Vietnam DIDL2022"; holding 14 events to develop reading habits/reading skills/research skills for readers; participating in higher education quality accreditation programs such as HCERES, AUN-QA, FIBAA, ASIIN; received and worked with delegations from the Consulate General of Korea in HCMC, Consulate General of Japan in HCMC, Consulate General of United States in HCMC and 429 other domestic and international visits...

In the Q&A session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Loan Thuy -  Library manager answered many questions of the readers directly at the venue as well as indirectly through an online survey. Those feedback were very supportive to help draw a better library development orientation in the coming school years.

As a speaker of the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Hieu Tin, M.A. - Head of Tourism Department, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ton Duc Thang University pointed out the key features of reading culture through developmental milestones of human society and historical highlights with the speech of "Reading Culture in the Digital Age”. Accordingly, from the knowledge accumulated through reading, reading culture will create the foundational condition to foster the development of people's soul, intellect and personality. In the digital era, reading culture with new reading methods clearly affirms its important role in the development of each individual as well as of the community and society in general.

The author Thien Phong joined the conference to share his experiences of life in unique perspectives. Although Thien Phong did not start his career as a writer, his words easily came into young people's souls in his previous publications. With the theme "Living like a pineapple: Living to the fullest with goals and dreams" -  which was also the title of his seventh book, Thien Phong has concluded that books provide us with new knowledge and wisdom and ideas from the perspective of others, and lead us to places we've never been before. In this life, if you read every day and make friends with books, it will help us absorb the huge source of knowledge that people have stored and spread through the books we read, to learn your own life lessons.

INSPiRE Library also took this opportunity to award certificates of merit to readers who had excellently performed in competitions on reading culture, as well as other awards voted by the Library. The winners were:

- Nguyen Thi Hong Ngoc, Faculty of Business Administration, won the consolation prize in the National Reading Culture Ambassador contest in 2022 organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism;

- Pham Hong Tram, Faculty of Law, won the consolation prize in the national online book introduction contest in 2022;

- Le Nhu Quynh, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, won encouragement in the National Online Book Introduction Contest in 2022;

- Nguyen Thi Phong Nha, Faculty of Business Administration, won encouragement at the National Online Book Introduction Contest in 2022;

- Dinh Thi Lan Nhi, Faculty of Foreign Languages, won the encouragement of the National Online Book Introduction Contest in 2022;

- Pham Tran Giang Quynh, Faculty of Accounting, achieved the prize for the best library reader in effectively exploiting library materials for study;

- Vuong Van Chinh, Faculty of Finance and Banking, achieved the prize for the exemplary reader in self-study at the Library.

Many songs performed by the librarians and the members of TDTU Book Club also stirred up the atmosphere of the Conference and received applause from the audience.
